During the 2019-20 academic year, she serves as an Israel Institute Visiting Assistant Professor at the UCLA Y&S Nazarian Center for Israel Studies. Mantle Hood (1918-2005) was a pioneer in the field of ethnomusicology and the Founder and Director of the UCLA Institute (now Department) of Ethnomusicology. In its early years many distinguished scholars, including Charles Seeger and J. H. Kwabena Nketia, collaborated in advancing the vision of the Institute. This past year I gathered seventy stories from Sudeten Germans who were born in the border regions of former Bohemia, Moravia, and Sudetensilesia.The term Sudeten German in my title is presented in quotation marks because, in contemporary usage, it is contested.
